A Quick Note on Truth

I humbly submit this, having bit down hard on this cherry pit a few times myself:

As human beings, and not just as Christians, we should want to hold true beliefs more than we should want to win.

The next time you're writing a research paper, posting or responding to a blog post, or having a lunchroom or dinner table conversation, consider this. When I'm trying to persuade or inform, am I bringing all the facts to bear or cherry picking the ones that best support my opinion? Am I leaving out known contrary evidence because it undermines my position? Do I take offense when someone points out an error in my thinking? Am I gentle or harsh when pointing out errors in other people's thinking? Do I ignore, marginalize, or ridicule other positions instead of dealing with them honestly and fairly?
